Rooted in Melbourne for over a decade, Melbourne Zhiyin Choir have been old friends brought together by music. Time has deepened their bonds and taught then that true Zhiyin (soulmates in Chinese) meet one another with sincerity and authenticity.

They take pride in their cultural heritage, sharing the beauty of Chinese music with this diverse community, while remaining open to artistic influences from around the world.

For them, singing is not about perfection—it is about genuine expression. They sing with true feeling, treat one another with honesty, and embrace life with integrity. They may not be the best choir, but together, they are the most real one.

They believe this: those who are sincere, truthful, and authentic are their Zhiyin.

The recording was made on the lands of the Bunurong people of the Eastern Kulin nation. We pay respect to their elders past, present and future. Sovereignty was never ceded.
